401(k) Match with Roth option, PTO, Medical plans offered Position Overview We are looking for an experienced Fire Sprinkler Designer to join our team and support commercial fire sprinkler projects from initial layout through final installation. This position is best suited for someone with prior fire sprinkler design experience who is comfortable working in AutoCAD, coordinating with project managers and field crews, and producing complete sprinkler drawings and submittal packages. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently on standard commercial projects, understand NFPA requirements, and make practical design decisions that support both code compliance and field installation. Compensation and responsibilities will be based on experience, technical ability, and level of independence. Key Responsibilities Design fire sprinkler systems using AutoCAD and HydraCAD Produce shop drawings, fabrication drawings, hydraulic calculations, and submittal packages Review architectural plans, specifications, contracts, and project requirements Coordinate with project managers, field installers, general contractors, engineers, and authority officials Apply NFPA standards, local code requirements, and project-specific criteria Adjust designs based on field conditions, installation conflicts, and coordination issues Conduct job site visits, surveys, and hydrant flow tests as needed Assist with material coordination, fabrication drawings, and project closeout items Help identify design issues early and communicate solutions clearly Requirements Prior fire sprinkler design experience required Proficient with AutoCAD HydraCAD experience required Ability to read and understand architectural, structural, and MEP plans Working knowledge of NFPA 13 and common commercial sprinkler design requirements Ability to produce accurate drawings with good attention to detail Strong spatial awareness and practical understanding of field installation Good communication and problem-solving skills Proficient with Word, Excel, Adobe, and general computer use High School Diploma minimum Valid Driver's License Able to pass a background check and drug test Must live within 1 hour of Sunnyvale, TX Willing to work in-office daily Preferred Experience 3+ years of fire sprinkler design experience Experience with commercial, retail, warehouse, school, or light industrial projects Familiarity with hydraulic calculations Experience coordinating with field crews and project managers NICET certification is a plus Who This Role Is For This role is a good fit for a current fire sprinkler designer who wants to be part of a smaller, hands-on team where their work directly impacts the success of each project.
