These positions, at different levels of responsibility, support either our Anchorage or Fairbanks, AK branch locations, which serve customers throughout the greater Anchorage or Fairbanks, AK areas. Our Systems & Service Specialists perform a wide range of tasks on building automation systems, supporting both system delivery and ongoing service support. On the systems side , responsibilities include installation, startup, and commissioning of newly installed building automation equipment. This involves verifying system databases and programming to ensure alignment with project scope and defined sequences of operation. On the service side , responsibilities include supporting service agreements, maintenance work, project-related service tasks, and on-call (time and material) service. Specialists respond to both scheduled and emergency service calls during regular hours and after hours as needed. As the face of Siemens, Systems & Service Specialists regularly interact with customers to optimize system performance—helping them improve efficiency, reduce energy costs, and contribute to a more sustainable environment. As a Systems & Service Specialist, you will: Follow all Siemens and customer safety requirements, OSHA regulations, and complete required training; adhere to policies, procedures, and standards while maintaining tools and test equipment Perform system checkout, startup, and commissioning of new distributed digital control systems Support customer operations by providing system instructions, training, and ensuring proper system performance, including participation in inspections, testing, and final acceptance Assist with network and system functionality including data backup processes, workstation and user interface setup, troubleshooting operational inconsistencies, and confirming network performance Participate in project turnover activities including final walkthroughs, documentation for as-built drawings, and coordination with engineering and trade contractors as needed Communicate project progress, deficiencies, and scheduling needs with team members, including Lead Technicians and Team Leaders Perform service work including emergency and scheduled calls, system repairs across automation platforms, and preventive maintenance in accordance with established schedules Maintain accurate service documentation by completing service tickets, generating reports, and submitting time and expense reports within Siemens systems Identify system discrepancies, recommend upgrades, assist with pricing of repairs and enhancements, Support on-call rotation, after-hours service, overtime as needed, and occasional overnight travel Perform additional duties as assigned You will make an impact with these qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
1+ years of experience installing and servicing electronic control or HVAC equipment Electro-mechanical experience (either in a previous role or through education) and user PC/software skill On-the-job experience reading, understanding, and interpreting design and construction documents Ability and willingness to work in a variety of circumstances, including climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high lift equipment, working in ducts, crawl spaces, roofs, basements, above ceilings, and in various conditions Must be able and willing to use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet as well as able to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) Ability and willingness to work overtime as needed Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license with limited violations Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
High school diploma or state-recognized GED; Associate or Bachelor's degree in electronics, mechanical engineering, or related Specialized skill training/certification Knowledge of building automation systems, PLCs, HVAC, electrical concepts, and building operations Engineering and programming (PLC or BMS) background Knowledge of building system communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, TCP/IP) Ready to create your own journey? The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
