Summary :
An Equipment Refurbishment Tech is responsible for assessing, disassembling, repairing, reassembling, packaging and labeling of beverage equipment to restore it to its original condition or better. Work with a variety of tools and equipment to diagnose issues, source replacement parts, and perform repairs, ensuring the refurbished equipment meets quality standards and safety regulations.Essential job functions:
Equipment Assessment:
Inspecting, testing and evaluating equipment to identify areas needing refurbishment, including mechanical, electrical, electronic components and visual defects.Disassembly and Inspection:
Carefully disassembling equipment to access components, identifying defects, and assessing the extent of repairs needed.Repair and Replacement:
Repairing or replacing damaged or worn-out components, using various tools, equipment, and techniques.Reassembly and Testing:
Reassembling the equipment after repairs, ensuring proper function, and conducting thorough testing to verify performance.Documentation and Record Keeping:
Maintaining accurate records of repairs, parts used, and testing results.Safety and Compliance:
Adhering to safety regulations and procedures throughout the refurbishment process, including handling hazardous materials. Tracks and reports on accomplishments such as total refurbishments completed, machine error or defects out in the fieldQuality Control:
Ensuring that refurbished equipment meets quality standards and specifications.Troubleshooting:
Diagnosing and resolving issues that may arise with equipment and or during the refurbishment process. Orders and maintains inventory of parts for use in refurbishment and the general service operation.Collaboration:
Working with various stakeholders (sales, technicians, service manager) to coordinate refurbishment projects and ensure optimal outcomes.Additional Responsibilities:
Backs up Service Department Manager during PTO Runs one off repair service calls as needed Creates field sales and customer servie team training materials including videos, reference guides, decision trees etc as needed Programs machine display screens (e.g Melitta, Azkoyen, Coffee Art, Perfect Servings etc) as neededKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Technical Skills:
Strong mechanical, electrical, and electronic aptitude, including knowledge of diagnostic tools, equipment maintenance, and repair techniques.Problem-Solving:
Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex equipment issues. Attention toDetail:
Precision in disassembly, repair, and reassembly, ensuring accurate and reliable performance.Communication:
Clear communication skills to effectively interact with team members and stakeholders.Documentation:
Ability to maintain accurate records and reports of repairs and testing.Safety Awareness:
Understanding and adhering to safety regulations and procedures.Physical Stamina:
Ability to perform tasks that may involve lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.Education and Experience Required:
High school diploma or equivalent. Three years of prior beverage equipment service/refurbishment experience preferred.
