Job Description

Job Title:
PLC Technician Job Description This position supports equipment installations, crane repair and maintenance, and a wide range of mechanical projects across multiple job sites. You will install, assemble, align, troubleshoot, and repair industrial equipment and overhead cranes while working both indoors and outdoors in dynamic environments. The role requires managing multiple projects at once, collaborating closely with project teams, and ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality. Light travel is involved, and you must be comfortable working at extreme heights, in varying weather conditions, and in physically demanding settings while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity. Responsibilities Install, assemble, align, and commission industrial equipment and overhead cranes at various job sites. Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems on industrial machinery and lifting equipment. Inspect, maintain, and repair overhead cranes and lifting equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation. Perform preventive maintenance on equipment, including conveyors, motors, gearboxes, and related mechanical systems. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to plan and execute installation and repair work. Use hand tools, power tools, rigging equipment, and precision measuring instruments to complete tasks accurately and safely. Support equipment installations and crane projects in both industrial and construction environments. Work at extreme heights, in confined spaces, and in outdoor environments while adhering to strict safety procedures. Apply safety practices such as lockout/tagout (LOTO), fall protection, and proper rigging techniques during all phases of work. Collaborate with project teams to plan work, coordinate schedules, and adapt to changing job site priorities. Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring tasks are completed on time and in line with quality expectations. Identify issues, diagnose root causes, and develop effective solutions to restore equipment to optimal performance. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at job sites and in any assigned workspaces. Communicate clearly with supervisors, coworkers, and customers regarding project status, issues, and progress. Travel as needed to support field service, installation, and maintenance projects across different locations. Essential Skills Proven experience as a PLC technician, industrial mechanic, or in a similar role within industrial or construction environments. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including conveyors, motors, gearboxes, hydraulics, and pneumatics. Hands-on experience installing, aligning, and troubleshooting heavy industrial equipment. Demonstrated experience inspecting, repairing, and maintaining overhead cranes and lifting equipment. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, rigging equipment, and precision measuring instruments. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings. Comfort working at extreme heights, in confined spaces, and in varying outdoor weather conditions. Strong understanding of safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), fall protection, and rigging practices. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing job site priorities. Willingness to travel lightly as needed for project support. Strong problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail and quality workmanship. Physical capability to lift heavy materials and perform repetitive tasks in a demanding environment. Excellent teamwork, communication, and time-management skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications OSHA certification or formal safety training is preferred. Field service experience supporting industrial equipment or crane installations. Experience in construction or industrial maintenance environments. Experience with preventive maintenance programs and documentation. Comfort using a variety of tools and equipment in both shop and field settings. Why Work Here? The position requires light travel to different job sites and involves physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials and performing repetitive motions throughout the workplace Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Troy, AL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $34.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
