Onsite Job Description Job Description:
Regulation & Certification Department is currently seeking a Vehicle Emission Lab Technician for our Team at the Chino East End facility in CA. Client Chino VEL Team helps support client vehicles meeting the challenging environmental, and emissions standards at the federal, state, and local levels, through compliance, in-use and development testing. VEL Technicians are responsible for conducting vehicle testing including tailpipe & evaporative emissions, fuel economy test, and reporting test results to team management. Testing may include EV, PHEV, HEV and ICE for in-use compliance (IUVP) and certification (EDV, FEDV, EVAP, DDV). Other testing may include mileage accumulation, coast down, special driving pattern arrangements, PEMS/RDE and other emissions-related items. Team members need to be knowledgeable in EV test practices, emission test practices, current & future regulatory requirements, CFR (Code of Federal Regulation) & CCR (Code of California Regulation). Essential Duties and Responsibilities include: Safely prepare and conduct vehicle emissions tests on chassis dynamometers Perform daily testing in accordance with test schedule and outlined safety processes Work alongside team to support all testing, maintenance, and project work Vehicle inspection / OBD scan Drain & fill test vehicles with test fuel Vehicle setup on Test Cells Call tests up & verify test parameters Drive tests / follow trace in accordance with federal and state refulations Willingness to participate in emissions laboratory and facility improvement projects Conduct gas correlation testing between test cells Support other VEL projects as required
Requirements:
1 - 3 years of chassis dynamometer and emission testing experience Knowledge of Horiba emissions equipment beneficial Knowledge of Burke E. Porter dynamometer controls beneficial Knowledge of
ORVR & 2DBL
testing beneficial Knowledge of MTL PM benches beneficial Knowledge and interest in automotive, dynamometers, emissions analysis equipment Able to maintain VEL internal driving metrics Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with management, executive staff, and peers. Working knowledge of
HEV / PHEV / BEV
would be beneficial. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, high integrity and ethical behavior. Demonstrated ability to adapt to rapidly changing business requirements.
Required Skills:
Proficient in MS Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook; MS Edge; MS Project; Good time management and organization skills Proficient self-management skills Proficient oral and written communication skills Demonstrated good interpersonal skills.
Education:
