JOB SUMMARY:
Performs all required tasks involved in the Golf Course Equipment Preventative Maintenance Program as designed by the Lead Golf Course Mechanic. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Incumbent is accountable for all duties of this job and other projects and responsibilities may be added at the City's discretion. Employees must be able to perform the essential duties of this job with or without reasonable accommodation. Assists the Lead Golf Course Mechanic in developing and accomplishing goals and objectives necessary to the success of the golf course enterprise. Makes recommendations for improving the established policies and procedures as they pertain to the equipment preventative maintenance program. Shares knowledge of shop and course operations with other staff up to the limit of his/her knowledge. Operates all equipment in a safe and productive manner. Inspects all cutting units (reel and rotary) for wear and set quality of cut on all reels on a daily basis. Responsible for maintaining quality of cut standards as established by Lead Golf Course Mechanic on all reel and rotary cutting units. Carry out the basic preventative maintenance operations according to the established procedures and schedules. Performs minor repairs to vehicles, mowers, and other golf course equipment. Occasionally performs more complicated repairs under direction of Lead Golf Course Mechanic. Performs other duties as assigned.
Reporting Relationships Supervision Received :
Receives general supervision from Assistant Golf Course Superintendent; Lead Golf Course Mechanic will oversee daily work and provide direction.
Supervision Exercised :
None. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requires regular and prompt attendance. Working knowledge of and ability to use basic hand tools, including the safe use of small power equipment such as drill presses, circular saws, etc. Ability to make accurate and precise adjustments to precision cutting units. Capable of accurate recordkeeping on all work performed. Ability to occasionally work without direct supervision. Must have ability to work as a team member as well as independently. Basic understanding of the workings of gasoline and diesel engines. Basic understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems. Ability to make decisions as they pertain to the preventative maintenance program. Ability to operate all golf course equipment in a safe and productive manner. Effective communications skills and the ability to get along with others in a courteous and helpful manner. Ability to transport oneself to off-site locations. Background check required. Must undergo a post-offer physical examination. Technological Skills Knowledge of computer operations and software related to position.
Education and Experience Education:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience :
Three consecutive months of golf course maintenance or other related turf maintenance experience. Some equipment maintenance experience required. Certification/Licenses/Specialized Training None. Pay Range $25.08-$31.66 Background and reference checks will be conducted for all regular and some variable/seasonal positions.
