HOURS:
Shifts will be 8-hour workdays, 5 days per week (40 hours/week)

1+ year We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Calibration Technician to support instrumentation and controls within a Central Utility Plant (CUP) environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience calibrating and maintaining sensors, transmitters, and control devices, along with strong troubleshooting and documentation skills. This role is critical to ensuring accuracy, reliability, and performance of all plant instrumentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Calibrate, inspect, troubleshoot, and replace sensors, transmitters, control valves, PLCs, and HMI interfaces used in CUP operations. Verify that all instrumentation meets Test Accuracy Ratio (TAR) requirements and complies with industry standards. Collaborate with NIH instrumentation teams to integrate new control strategies and add monitoring points as operational needs evolve. Maintain complete, traceable calibration records and support data integrity for operational dashboards and reporting systems. Support system reliability through proactive adjustments, equipment evaluations, and corrective actions. Assist in commissioning, upgrades, and system enhancements involving instrumentation and plant controls.
Qualifications:
Experience calibrating and maintaining industrial instrumentation (sensors, transmitters, valves, PLCs, HMIs, etc.). Strong understanding of instrumentation accuracy requirements, including TAR standards . Ability to read and interpret technical documentation such as schematics, loop sheets, and control diagrams. Familiarity with plant automation, supervisory control systems, or industrial controls environments. Excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail. Strong documentation and data management capabilities. Ability to collaborate with engineering, operations, and government teams.
Additional Requirements:
Must be eligible to work in the United States. Must meet background or clearance requirements based on facility needs. Strong communication and teamwork skills.
