Our client in Auburndale, FL, is a local manufacturing facility for a children's beverage brand known for its better-for-kids juices, flavored waters, and milk products that feature fun, collectible character tops to make healthy drinks more appealing. The company combines nutritious ingredients with playful packaging and distributes its products nationally through major retailers, aiming to promote healthier consumption habits for kids.
Salary:
$37.72 - $41.43/hr. plus $2/hr. shift differential for 3rd Shift (9:00 PM - 5:30 AM)
Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Automation Manager, the Automation Technician performs installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical and automated production equipment. This role supports manufacturing operations by troubleshooting PLCs, VFDs, motors, drives, and other automated systems, ensuring safe and efficient production in compliance with applicable codes and safety standards.
Job Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair automated production equipment to minimize downtime. Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical and mechanical components, including control panels, motors, and drives. Perform preventative maintenance and support continuous improvement initiatives. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, ladder logic, P&IDs, and electrical diagrams for system diagnostics. Troubleshoot 4-20mA loops, process instrumentation, and control systems. Follow all safety procedures, OSHA guidelines, and GMP/food safety standards. Support audits and compliance related to food safety certifications. Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
Required:
High School Diploma or GED Minimum 1 year of related experience Basic understanding of electrical systems and troubleshooting Ability to interpret ladder logic for diagnostics Strong math and problem-solving skills Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks (crouching, kneeling, bending) Ability to read, write, and speak English Willingness to learn new systems and processes
Preferred:
Associate degree, vocational certification, or apprenticeship in a related field 3+ years of experience in automation or maintenance Working knowledge of current electrical codes
