Electronics Technician Job Description The Electronics Engineering Technician collaborates closely with engineers to support the development, validation, and troubleshooting of electronic products. This role involves hands-on evaluation, test setup, board bring-up, and software validation testing, focusing on practical, real-world use conditions. Responsibilities Work closely with electrical and software engineers to support product development and testing. Bring up printed circuit boards (PCBs) and assist with initial functional validation. Troubleshoot electronic assemblies down to the component level. Perform software validation testing and collect test data for engineering review. Safely work with AC voltages, primarily 120V (up to 277V on rare occasions). Use oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, and other lab equipment to collect and analyze data. Apply electronics fundamentals, including Ohm's Law and basic circuit analysis, to evaluate performance issues. Document test results and observations clearly for engineers and project teams. Design and assemble basic test fixtures and test apparatus to simulate real-world usage. Build connection methods between product connectors and test loads. Create rough mock-ups to validate behavior under realistic operating conditions. Focus on physical layout and practical implementation rather than formal schematic-based design. Adapt fixtures based on requirements even when documentation is limited. Perform occasional hand soldering of development hardware, applying best practices as needed. Essential Skills Strong understanding of electronics fundamentals (Ohm's Law, circuit analysis). Experience using multimeters and oscilloscopes. Ability to troubleshoot in a hands-on lab environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications PCB bring-up and component-level troubleshooting experience. Experience creating ad-hoc test fixtures. Basic soldering experience. Collaborative and practical problem-solving mindset. Work Environment The position is onsite at a beach location, offering a long-term role with benefits including two weeks of paid time off and eight holidays.
