ELECTRONIC TECHNICIAN - H309 3.7 3.7
out of 5 stars The Electronic Technician supports plant operations by performing skilled work related to the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical and electronic equipment. This role also provides technical guidance to maintenance personnel and ensures all work meets safety and operational standards. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Electrical & Technical Work Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical and electronic equipment using diagnostic tools such as ammeters, voltmeters, and other test devices. Install, maintain, and calibrate machinery and control systems. Utilize blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals to program, adjust, or repair machinery. Disassemble, repair, and reassemble electrical and mechanical components and equipment. Specify repair needs, parts requirements, and replacement components. Maintenance & Plant Support Conduct and document preventive maintenance activities to minimize downtime. Operate welders, shop equipment, and power tools safely and effectively. Use approved chemicals for cleaning and maintenance tasks in accordance with safety guidelines. Training & Leadership Provide day-to-day training, guidance, and support to less experienced maintenance personnel. Authorize work on electrical equipment within assigned areas. Safety & Compliance Follow all plant safety procedures, including the Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) program for high‑voltage areas. Wear appropriate PPE, including eye and ear protection, as required. Practice extreme caution when working with high voltage, heavy machinery, elevated heights, and ladders. Technical Skills & Qualifications PLC Troubleshooting or basic programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.) VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) setup and troubleshooting Knowledge of industrial sensors and instrumentation Understanding of 3-phase electrical systems and motor controls Familiarity with SCADA or HMI systems Experience with industrial networking (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, etc.) Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and technical documents. Proficiency with electrical testing equipment. Strong problem-solving skills with a thorough understanding of industrial electrical systems. Basic literacy skills necessary for documentation, communication, and safe job performance. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift. Ability to bend, reach, kneel, stoop, crouch, and pull as job duties require. Ability to lift and handle heavy materials (classified as heavy work). Ability to work from ladders and at elevated heights without restrictions. Work Environment Exposure to loud noise; hearing protection required in designated areas. Exposure to industrial equipment, high‑voltage areas, and chemicals used in cleaning and maintenance.
