Job Description
Electrical Engineering Technician — Job Description Overview An electrical engineering technician supports engineers in designing, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining electrical systems and equipment. The role blends hands‑on technical work with applied engineering principles and is essential in industries such as manufacturing, utilities, telecommunications, and research. Key Responsibilities Design and Development Support Assist in creating electrical systems, circuits, and components. Build and test prototypes and experimental units. Use technical drawings, schematics, and CAD tools to support design work. Testing and Troubleshooting Conduct tests on electrical equipment to verify performance and safety. Diagnose issues in circuits or components and perform repairs or adjustments. Calibrate and maintain testing instruments. Documentation and Reporting Prepare technical reports, test results, and system documentation. Maintain accurate records of inspections, modifications, and system performance. Installation and Maintenance Install electrical equipment and assist with system setup. Perform routine maintenance and ensure equipment meets operational standards. Collaboration Work with engineers, project managers, and other technicians to complete projects. Participate in site visits to evaluate installation conditions or system performance. Typical Qualifications Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related field. Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams. Knowledge of electrical theory, safety standards, and troubleshooting methods. Familiarity with CAD software and electrical testing tools. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Gainesville, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
