Job Description
The Associate Engineering Technician will support engineering and design teams in the development of civil design deliverables for underground transmission line projects. This role will focus on creating plan and profile drawings using Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation. The ideal candidate will have basic Civil 3D experience, including knowledge of alignments, plan/profile development, and sections. This position requires intermediate knowledge of engineering principles, drafting practices, technical documentation, and project deliverable coordination. Key Responsibilities Develop and modify plan and profile deliverables for underground transmission line projects. Use Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation to create, update, and maintain engineering drawings, models, and technical documentation. Support engineering teams with technical drafting and design tasks under general supervision. Apply intermediate knowledge of engineering principles and established design practices to project deliverables. Create drawings and deliverables based on a variety of design inputs, standards, and project requirements. Develop alignments, plan/profile drawings, and sections using Civil 3D. Perform basic computations, including material quantity estimates and dimensional checks. Coordinate deliverables with other project groups to reduce errors, conflicts, and design interferences. Apply document control practices, departmental standards, and company procedures to maintain accurate project records. Support quality control efforts by applying established quality procedures and reviewing work for accuracy and compliance. Assist internal project teams while developing an understanding of external client priorities, requirements, and project drivers. Support continuous improvement efforts by evaluating tools, processes, and procedures used to complete deliverables. Begin providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering technicians as needed. Stay current on applicable standards, design tools, document control practices, and emerging technologies. Required Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of related drafting, design, engineering technician, or civil infrastructure experience. Basic experience with Autodesk Civil 3D. Experience developing plan and profile deliverables. Knowledge of Civil 3D alignments, plan/profile sheets, and sections. Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation. Intermediate understanding of engineering principles, drafting practices, and technical documentation. Ability to create, update, and maintain drawings and project deliverables from design inputs. Ability to perform basic material quantity estimates and dimensional checks. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate, compliant deliverables. Ability to coordinate with engineers, designers, and other project groups. Preferred Qualifications Diploma or certificate in drafting, civil design, engineering technology, or a related field. Associate degree in Drafting, Engineering Design Technology, Civil Technology, or related discipline. Experience supporting underground transmission line, utility, power delivery, grid infrastructure, or civil linear infrastructure projects. Experience with Bentley MicroStation. Familiarity with document control, quality programs, and engineering design standards.
