In this energetic role, you will be responsible for installing, splicing, testing, and maintaining fiber optic cables and related network components to ensure reliable high-speed internet and communication services. Responsibilities Must have truck, van or SUV Must have valid drivers license Install telecommunications network cables including fiber optic lines in residential, commercial, and outdoor settings using hand tools and power tools. Perform fiber splicing with precision to ensure optimal signal transmission and minimal loss. Test installed equipment using voltmeters, ohmmeters, equipment testers, and other diagnostic tools to verify proper functioning. Use ladder work safely for elevated installations while adhering to safety protocols. Connect and configure Cisco routers, Ethernet switches, telephony systems, satellite dishes, and other networking equipment. Conduct field service activities such as troubleshooting network issues, repairing damaged cables, and performing routine maintenance on existing infrastructure. Utilize wire crimpers, wire strippers, cable cassettes, and other hand tools efficiently during installation projects. Ensure all work complies with electrical standards and safety regulations while providing excellent customer service during residential telecommunications installations. Document all installation activities accurately and complete detailed reports for project tracking and quality assurance. Experience Proven experience working as a telecommunications infrastructure technician or service technician with a focus on fiber optic or copper cabling installations. Hands-on experience with telecommunications network cable installation in outdoor or challenging environments. Familiarity with computer networking concepts including Ethernet wiring, telephony systems, and Cisco routers. Skilled in fiber splicing techniques with knowledge of proper handling of fiber optic cables to prevent damage. Experience operating hand tools such as wire strippers, crimpers, power drills, and electrical testers safely and effectively. Strong background in electrical work or related fields involving wiring and equipment testing. Customer service experience demonstrating professionalism when interacting with clients during residential or commercial installations.
