Team:
We are looking for a Building Automation Service Technician with experience in Johnson Control's Metasys BAS in to help us deliver smarter, more efficient buildings for our clients. Upchurch Services is a leading provider of building automation, HVAC, mechanical, and energy management solutions. Our Building Automation team, formerly Xencom Energy Management, brings more than 30 years of nationwide experience serving commercial facilities and is a Honeywell Elite Authorized Controls Integrator. We specialize in the design, installation, service, optimization, and ongoing support of Building Automation Systems and Energy Management Systems, including Honeywell controls and Tridium Niagara platforms.
Position Overview:
This position is responsible for troubleshooting, servicing, maintaining, and optimizing Building Automation Systems and Energy Management Systems at customer facilities throughout the United States. The technician will focus on working with Johnson Controls' Metasys, which is a leading building automation system (BAS) that integrates HVAC, lighting, security and fire protection systems on one secure platform. What You'll Do Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair BAS and EMS systems, controllers, sensors, and associated equipment. Commission and optimize HVAC controls serving AHUs, VAVs, chillers, boilers, cooling towers, rooftop units, and other mechanical equipment. Perform preventive maintenance, calibration, system repairs, and upgrades. Troubleshoot and test network communications using BACnet IP, Modbus, LonWorks, and other control protocols. Diagnose low voltage electrical and control issues involving wiring, relays, sensors, actuators, controllers, and associated devices. Assist with Niagara N4 commissioning, programming, graphics, and troubleshooting as required. Review system operation and sequences of operation to identify equipment or controls issues. Maintain accurate service documentation, work reports, and customer records. Clearly communicate technical findings, recommended repairs, and completed work to customers and internal project teams. Follow all company, customer, and job site safety requirements. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of Building Automation or BAS technician experience. Experience with Johnson Controls Metasys Niagara N4 commissioning and troubleshooting experience is a plus. Strong understanding of low voltage electrical systems, including AC and DC wiring, relays, sensors, actuators, and control circuits. Working knowledge of commercial HVAC systems and sequences of operation. Ability to read electrical drawings, control diagrams, and mechanical plans. Trade school, HVAC apprenticeship, controls training, or military technical training preferred. Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills. Strong customer service and communication skills. Ability to work independently in the field and coordinate with remote technical support when required. Must be willing and able to travel nationwide Monday through Friday. Valid driver's license required. Must be able to pass applicable background screening and drug screening requirements.
