Full-Time Position Overview Suncoast Communication Services is seeking an experienced Fiber Splicing Supervisor to oversee fiber splicing operations on a Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) project. This position will be responsible for supervising fiber splicing crews and coordinating fiber splicing, testing, data collection, fiber pulling, quality control, and project documentation. The supervisor will work closely with project management, field crews, contractors, and other project personnel to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications. This role is not limited to fiber splicing and will include general supervisory responsibilities across the project as needed, including coordinating crews, addressing field issues, monitoring production and quality, and supporting overall project execution. A company truck or truck allowance will be provided, along with a company fuel card for this position Key Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate fiber splicing crews on an FTTH project Oversee fiber splicing, testing, and troubleshooting activities Ensure fiber is spliced and tested according to project specifications and quality standards Coordinate and oversee fiber pulling operations Monitor fiber testing results and ensure accurate data collection Review and organize splicing documentation, test results, and project records Read and interpret fiber optic construction plans, designs, splice diagrams, and other project documentation Coordinate daily activities with project management and field personnel Monitor crew productivity, quality, and adherence to project schedules Identify and resolve field issues affecting production or quality Conduct field inspections and quality-control checks Assist with as-builts, redlines, documentation, and other project deliverables Communicate project requirements and expectations to field crews Ensure crews follow company, client, and jobsite safety requirements Assist with material coordination and inventory as needed Provide updates on production, progress, issues, and project status Perform other supervisory duties as required to support successful project completion Required Qualifications Knowledge and understanding of fiber optics and fiber optic construction Ability to read and understand fiber optic construction designs, splice diagrams, and project plans Experience with fiber splicing and testing Ability to understand and evaluate fiber test results Strong organizational and communication skills Computer proficiency for organizing project documentation, test results, reports, and other project records Ability to supervise and coordinate field personnel Ability to work independently and make decisions in the field Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety Ability to work in an active construction environment Preferred Qualifications Previous FTTH construction experience Previous fiber splicing supervisory or lead experience Experience with OTDR testing and fiber certification Experience with power meter/light source testing Experience with fiber documentation and as-builts Experience coordinating fiber pulling operations Experience managing subcontractors or field crews Experience with project management or construction tracking software Experience with Microsoft Excel and other computer-based documentation systems CFOT or other fiber-optic certifications are a plus What We're Looking For We're looking for a hands-on supervisor who understands fiber optics and can effectively lead field crews while maintaining production, quality, safety, and accurate documentation. The ideal candidate is comfortable working both in the field and on the computer, can identify problems before they become larger project issues, and can communicate effectively with crews, contractors, and project management. Vehicle & Fuel Company truck OR truck allowance Company fuel card Vehicle/fuel provided for project-related travel and responsibilities Field-based position requiring regular travel throughout the project area Work Environment This is primarily a field-based supervisory position on an active FTTH construction project. The position requires working outdoors and around construction equipment, fiber construction activities, and active jobsites. Candidates should be comfortable working in varying weather conditions and traveling between project locations as required.
