Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sheet Metal/Electronics Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and repairing precision sheet metal components and electronic systems used in aerospace, military, and aviation applications. Your expertise will ensure that all equipment and structures meet strict industry standards, including USAF regulations and AS9100 quality management systems. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology while being an integral part of the Air Force research and development community. Key Responsibilities & Duties • Install fasteners, rivets, bolts, screws, and nutplates to assemble structural parts per engineering drawings. Plug, drill, ream, debur, counter sink holes. Prepare surfaces, burnish, Alodine, prime, apply sealant or touch up paint as required Read, interpret, and follow blueprints, technical manuals, and engineering diagrams Ensure all work meets strict Air Force standards and regulations Complete timeline driven tasks with emphasis on returning a quality product to the customer Ensures compliance with Safety, Tool Control, Foreign Object Damage (FOD) Prevention, Supply, Hazardous Material (HAZMAT), Quality, and Security program procedures and regulations Utilizes maintenance documentation directives and procedures to document all maintenance functions Communicates job status and progress concerns/obstacles with leadership and local maintenance production personnel Perform electrical work including soldering, routing, splicing, and terminating, ensuring compliance with electrical standards for avionics and aircraft systems Conduct root cause analysis on equipment failures or manufacturing defects to implement effective corrective actions Required Skills & Qualifications 10+ years' combined experience in aviation structural maintenance or a relevant technical background, along with with electronics or aircraft electrical/avionics systems. Skill with hand and power tools (rivet guns, pneumatic drills, files, crimpers, strippers) Military Technical school certificate or civilian equivalent Experienced understanding of Air Force rules and regulations pertaining to aircraft maintenance, asset/installation security, safety, and common protocols Thorough understanding of how to use and maintain common equipment and tools Interpreting testing, measuring, and referencing devices Working understanding of maintenance documentation in aircraft 781 series forms and Integrated Maintenance Data System (IMDS) or equivalent Basic understanding of wire harness routing, clamping, and securing with the capacity to learn more advanced wiring techniques such as soldering, terminating, splicing, and crimping
Working Conditions Environment:
Typically work in a hangar, on the flightline, or in an electronics laboratory
Schedule:
This is a two shift operation working dayshift or swing shift hours while TDY.
Environment Risks:
Exposure to loud machinery, chemical agents, and the need for PPE in all types of weather conditions Requirements Willingness to travel as required US Citizen with current secret security clearance Ability to work in cramped spaces Ability to bend, reach, climb, and lift items weighing up to 50 pounds, or assist in lifting items weighing over 50 pounds
Pay:
$80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
