Job Description
Job Title:
Chassis Prep Supervisor $35 with overtime available every week. Job Description The Chassis Prep Supervisor oversees post-assembly troubleshooting and ensures that all vehicles and equipment leaving the facility meet quality, safety, and performance standards. This role focuses on diagnosing and resolving electrical, electronic, and mechanical issues that arise after assembly and before final shipment. Responsibilities Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and electronic issues on trucks and heavy equipment, including wiring problems and control system faults, before units leave the facility. Diagnose and repair mechanical issues as they arise on chassis, engines, and related components during the post-assembly phase. Inspect assembled vehicles and equipment to verify proper operation, quality, and compliance with specifications prior to release. Use electrical schematics and diagrams to trace circuits, identify faults, and perform accurate and timely repairs. Apply knowledge of CAN bus systems, electrical control systems, and electrical control units to debug and correct complex electronic problems. Perform preventive maintenance checks on diesel engines, pneumatic systems, and construction equipment as needed to support reliable operation. Utilize hand and power tools safely and effectively to perform adjustments, repairs, and modifications on vehicles and heavy machinery. Measure and verify components and assemblies using tape measures and other basic measuring tools to ensure proper fit and alignment. Support assembly line activities by addressing issues that impact workflow, quality, or schedule, and provide guidance on corrective actions. Document findings, repairs, and adjustments performed on vehicles and equipment to support traceability and continuous improvement. Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to identify root causes of recurring issues and recommend long-term solutions. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with facility standards and safety procedures. Essential Skills Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair issues on vehicles, heavy machinery, and construction equipment. Hands-on experience in automotive mechanics or diesel mechanics, including engine and diesel engine repair. Ability to troubleshoot electronics on trucks, including wiring-related issues and debugging of electrical systems. Proficiency with electrical control systems, electrical control units, and CAN bus (CANBUS) diagnostics. Experience in vehicle maintenance, automotive service, and automotive repair in an assembly or production environment. Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical diagrams for electrical and mechanical systems. Skilled in the safe use of hand tools and power tools for repair, adjustment, and assembly tasks. Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices for diesel engines, pneumatics, and related systems. Capability to work effectively on or around assembly lines and construction-type equipment. Comfort working with tape measures and basic measurement tools to verify dimensions and alignment. Mechanically inclined with a strong troubleshooting mindset and attention to detail. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with heavy machinery and construction equipment in a maintenance or repair capacity. Repair and maintenance of diesel-powered vehicles or equipment. Exposure to industrial or manufacturing environments where vehicle assembly and testing are performed. Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate issues and solutions clearly. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple troubleshooting tasks and priorities in a fast-paced setting. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a production facility that is technically non-temperature controlled, yet described as very comfortable for daily work. You will work in and around assembly lines, heavy machinery, and construction-type equipment, regularly using hand and power tools, tape measures, and diagnostic instruments. The environment is practical and shop-oriented, with an emphasis on safety, organization, and efficient troubleshooting of electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of LaFayette, GA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
