Full-time Job Overview Summary Description of Classification:
Responsible for installation, testing, maintenance and repair of low voltage equipment and Fire Alarm Systems. Employee will be on call for fire alarm and/or weather emergencies
Duties and Responsibilities:
Installs, test, maintain and repair Fire Alarm Systems. Provide trainings and technical instructions for staff on the use of fire alarm related equipment. Performs work orders as directed or assigned. Maintains records of work performed and/or testing records as required. Utilizes and maintains test equipment and materials in a responsible and reliable manner. Monitors and maintains equipment inventory; advise supervisor of material and supply requirements. Submits reports as need by the district. Installs and performs maintenance and repair work on fire alarm systems. Be on call and lead others in the absences of a supervisors. Performs related duties as required or assigned by supervisors.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
Thorough knowledge of low voltage cabling systems. Thorough knowledge of Troubleshooting to Repair techniques. Ability to lead others in repairing, testing and maintenance of low voltage systems Ability to deal courteously and diplomatically with others. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to effectively utilize tools and diagnostic equipment necessary to perform job duties. Ability to drive and operate motor vehicles. Ability to troubleshoot electronic equipment without supervision or technical assistance. Skilled in electronics testing, maintenance, installation and repair. Experience Proven service technician experience working with electronic or electrical systems in field environments. Hands-on experience using hand tools, schematics, and testing devices like ohmmeters for troubleshooting. Familiarity with computer hardware components and basic computer networking principles. Knowledge of low voltage electrical systems, equipment repair procedures, and maintenance practices. Mechanical aptitude with the ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics accurately. Minimum high school diploma or GED certificate and technical school diploma in electronics, telephone repair, low voltage cabling installation or a closely related field is required. Five (5) year of experience in the field of low voltage cabling installation.
