Automation Specialist Job Description As an Automation Specialist, you will support the automation and maintenance team to enhance production, lab, and processing equipment. You will be responsible for updating drawings and schematics for engineering on an as-needed basis. Your role will involve spending 40% of your time on capital electrical and robotic projects, with the remaining 60% dedicated to maintenance and PLC programming. Responsibilities Work with integrator and control vendors to implement and document electrical and control processes. Oversee the work of maintenance mechanics to ensure efficient operations. Engage in troubleshooting and maintaining automation systems. Collaborate with the team to manage and support capital projects. Essential Skills Proficiency in automation and PLC programming. Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs. Strong electrical and troubleshooting skills. Ability to read and update schematics. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associate's Degree in Robotics or a related field, or a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with a focus on electrical or automation. Minimum of 6 months of hands-on PLC programming experience. Background in maintenance tech with direct experience in PLCs and a GMP or Food Manufacturing setting is a plus. Work Environment The work schedule is Monday through Friday, with ideal shifts from 5 PM to 2 AM, though there is flexibility with shifts including overnight (11 PM to 7:30 AM) and second shift (3-4 PM until 12-1 AM). There may be a requirement for cross-over shifts. The position offers the opportunity for overtime at the employee's discretion, with an on-call responsibility once a month on Saturdays. The work primarily takes place on the production floor, but a desk is provided. The Automation Specialist will report to the automation lead and work alongside four other specialists.
