Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Fiber Splicer to join our dynamic telecommunications team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing fiber optic systems that form the backbone of modern communication networks. Your expertise will ensure seamless connectivity for residential, commercial, and industrial clients by performing precise fiber splicing and network infrastructure setup outdoors and in various challenging environments. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge fiber optic technology, contribute to expanding high-speed internet access, and support critical telecommunications operations. Pay is Strictly based on Experience and work performance. Duties Perform fiber optic cable splicing with precision using specialized fusion splicing equipment to ensure optimal signal quality and minimal loss. Install, troubleshoot, and repair fiber optic systems in outdoor environments, adhering to industry standards and safety protocols. Operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks and other construction machinery safely during installation and maintenance activities. Use diagnostic tools and telecommunications testing equipment to verify network performance, identify faults, and support engineering troubleshooting efforts. Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and installation diagrams to accurately execute cabling layouts and network configurations. Conduct telecommunications outside plant operations including cable pulling, trenching, and conduit installation in compliance with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC). Collaborate with team members to perform climbing, outdoor work tasks, and low voltage electrical connections while maintaining safety standards at all times. Requirements Proven experience in field service roles involving telecommunications or fiber optic systems installation. Strong knowledge of fiber optic cables, network infrastructure, LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), Ethernet, and telephony systems. Hands-on experience operating power tools, hand tools, voltmeters, and other technical troubleshooting support equipment. Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering troubleshooting documents related to fiber optic networks. Demonstrated proficiency with telecommunication testing equipment used for diagnosing network issues. Construction experience with outdoor work environments including climbing poles or towers safely. Familiarity with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) standards for outdoor utility work. Excellent technical troubleshooting skills for fiber splicing and network cable installation issues. Valid driver's license with experience operating bucket trucks or similar heavy equipment is preferred. Strong safety awareness combined with electrical experience related to low voltage systems.
