Job Description

📍 Chicago, IL 🕒 Full‑time | On‑site / Field‑basedAbout the RoleWe are seeking a skilled Building Automation Technician to support installation, programming, commissioning, and ongoing service of BAS projects across the Chicago area. This role is ideal for a hands‑on technician with strong Johnson Controls Metasys and Tridium Niagara experience who enjoys troubleshooting and working in live building environments.

Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, program, and commission Building Automation SystemsWork extensively with Metasys controllers and front endsConfigure and support Tridium Niagara (N4 preferred) systemsDevelop and modify BAS graphics and user interfacesPerform system diagnostics, troubleshooting, and optimisationSupport point‑to‑point checkout, functional testing, and commissioningInterpret control drawings, sequences of operation, and specificationsProvide on‑site technical support and client interactionEnsure systems are delivered in line with project and safety standardsRequired Experience & SkillsProven experience as a Building Automation / Controls TechnicianStrong hands‑on knowledge of MetasysPractical experience with Tridium Niagara (AX or N4)Solid understanding of HVAC systems and controlsExperience with installation, commissioning, and service workAbility to troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issuesComfortable working independently in the fieldPreferred BackgroundExperience in commercial buildings, healthcare, education, or labsFamiliarity with BACnet, IP networking, and field devicesPrevious work with systems integrators or OEMsRelevant technical certifications or trade backgroundWhat's on OfferCompetitive salary with overtime potentialStable pipeline of BAS projects in the Chicago marketOpportunity to work on modern, integrated control systemsCareer growth into senior technician or engineering rolesBenefits package including healthcare, PTO, and retirement options
