Fontanini located in McCook, IL just outside of Chicago is seeking an experienced Electrical Technician with strong PLC knowledge.

Position Summary:

Manufacturing Electronics Technician applies advanced technical knowledge to design, purchase, install, program and troubleshoot electrical, electronic, and computerized control systems in the Fontanini Foods plant.

Shift:

Alternative work schedule with Saturday and Sundays required.

Pay Range:

The base pay range at $35.00-$49.00 per hour, however, actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.

Position Responsibilities:

Designs and implements electronic based control systems utilizing programmable logic controllers (PLCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), personal computers and manufacturer's design software. Work with electrical personnel on installations or maintenance of equipment. Ensure that new or existing equipment control systems are properly functioning and maintained. Provides support for plant metal detection, scales, and IT (Information Technology) systems as required. Assists mechanical personnel with breakdowns when technical advice is needed to get the equipment back operating as soon as possible. Document changes and information on electric schematics and breaker panel sheets, make backup copies of PLC programs and PC applications along with the inventory of electronic parts as needed. Specifies parts required. Orders if needed and makes needed repairs. Assists with training new and/or less skilled maintenance and production personnel. Troubleshoots basic electrical problems using various test equipment and ladder logic diagrams. Follow all safety and company policies. Participate in safety and quality trainings. Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Possess a two (2) year engineering technology degree or equivalent experience. Ability to repair equipment using hand tools. Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting ability. Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics. Ability to read the input/output of electrical schematics. Knowledge of PLC's (Programmable Logic Controllers). Demonstrated work experience in a team environment. Demonstrated ability to learn and use custom equipment and assist in installations. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Initiative to work independently. Lift, carry or move light/heavy loads up to 50lbs. Crawl over, under and into equipment as necessary to perform job duties. Work weekends when plant enters busy season and when needed. Previous experience working in a manufacturing setting preferably food manufacturing.
