Job Description

Gadsden Engineering is looking for a part-time Component-Level Electronics Technician to help diagnose, repair, and test industrial electronic components used in manufacturing equipment, including CNC machines, press brakes, turret punches, controls, drives, power supplies, operator panels, circuit boards, and related machine electronics. This position is ideal for someone with strong hands-on electronics troubleshooting skills who can work carefully, think through problems, and repair equipment at the board/component level instead of only replacing complete assemblies. Responsibilities Troubleshoot and repair industrial electronic components and circuit boards Diagnose failed components such as capacitors, resistors, relays, diodes, transistors, ICs, connectors, power supplies, and display components Perform soldering, desoldering, component replacement, and board-level repairs Inspect boards and assemblies for burned traces, cracked solder joints, corrosion, damaged connectors, and physical defects Use test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, power supplies, and other diagnostic tools Test repaired components when possible before returning them to service or inventory Assist with repair documentation, notes, photos, and basic tracking of repaired components Help identify hard-to-find replacement parts and suitable equivalents Support repair work related to older Amada equipment, Fanuc controls, operator panels, drives, power supplies, and machine electronics Maintain a clean, organized electronics repair work area Qualifications Experience troubleshooting electronics at the component level Strong soldering and desoldering skills Ability to read basic schematics and follow circuit traces Comfortable using a multimeter and other electronic test equipment Knowledge of power supplies, relays, sensors, drives, controls, and industrial electronics Good attention to detail and ability to work carefully with older or hard-to-replace components Ability to document findings clearly Self-motivated and able to work independently once given direction Preferred Experience Industrial electronics repair CNC machine controls or automation equipment Fanuc, Amada, Mitsubishi, Yaskawa, or similar machine control systems Servo drives, spindle drives, operator panels, CRT/LCD conversions, and power supply repair Repairing obsolete or hard-to-source circuit boards Experience with older manufacturing equipment is a plus What We're Looking For We need someone who can slow down, troubleshoot properly, and find the actual failure instead of guessing. The right person will be comfortable working with older electronics, diagnosing problems, and repairing components that may no longer be easy to replace. This is not a production line job. It is hands-on troubleshooting and repair work for industrial machine electronics.
