Job Description

Job Title:
Automation Technician ( Direct Hire Position)
Summary :
As an Automation Technician maintaining automated systems in various industrial settings you will work closely with Engineers and Automation Specialists to ensure, efficient operation of production processes and maximize productivity.
Schedule :
2nd shift M-F with OT available (including x1.5hr and double time x2)
Pay:
$28-35.00 per hour (Direct Hire Position)
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Support the automation engineering team by performing preventive maintenance and repairs to EOAT tools, Robots, vision systems, AMR's, and semi-automated assembly and packaging equipment.
  • Configure and calibrate automation equipment such as sensors, actuators, and controllers to ensure proper functioning.
  • Conduct thorough testing on automated systems to identify potential errors and make necessary adjustments or repairs.
  • Collaborate with engineering team to identify areas for process improvement and propose automated solutions.
  • Identify risk areas likely to cause equipment breakdowns, collaborate with engineering team to identify areas for process improvement and propose automated solution.
  • Trains technicians on new automation equipment and provides supporting training/troubleshooting documentation.
  • Organizes documentation (specifications, schematics, and procedures).
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Other duties as assigned in Management's sole discretion
Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities:
  • Strong foundational mechanical and electrical and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical diagrams including complex automated system drawings.
  • Knowledge of some or most of the following: pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, servo motors, pick-and-place, sensors, robotics, and vision systems.
  • Robot programming experience required, Kuka, Krauss Maffei and Wittmann a plus.
  • Strong understanding of automated manufacturing principles and techniques.
  • Strong foundational understanding of PLCs and logic.
  • Strong awareness of safety.
  • Previous experience maintaining and repairing robotics and production experience preferred.
  • Must have clear and well-organized oral and written communication.

Work Environment This position primarily supports a 2nd shift schedule from 2:55 p.m. to 11:55 p.m., with an initial training period on 1st shift for approximately one month. You must be able to work overtime when required and maintain a flexible schedule to support molding and production operations. The role takes place in a manufacturing environment with automation, robotic systems, PLC-controlled equipment, HMIs, and associated mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. The work involves repetitive bending and reaching, standing for sustained periods of time, and lifting up to 45 pounds without accommodation. You will work around active production equipment and machinery, following established safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe and efficient workplace. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Waukegan, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $65000.00/yr. Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
