The Company has been in business since 1951, and employees approximately 25 people. Northern Electric specializes in the rebuilding of electrical and mechanical equipment for industry. Northern Electric also has a well-equipped machining department with lathes capable of handling shafts up to 18' long as well as a Vertical CNC Machine Center and CNC lathes. The Company also repairs computer-controlled equipment. Northern Electric is affiliated with IBEW Local 1392 and currently offers Union sponsored Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Health & Welfare, VSP Vision, & MetLife Dental Insurance as well as an Annuity. The Company also provides its own 401k plan option, nine paid holidays, four paid sick days, and paid vacation days. Our company is currently seeking ​an Electric Motor Repair Technician to join our team! Northern Electric Company repairs electric motors, generators, pumps, gear reducers and many other types of production related equipment for industry. We are looking for an experienced Electric Motor Repair Technician that has at least 4 years of experience and is familiar with repairing electrical and mechanical equipment for industry. This position is responsible for repairing AC & DC electric motors as well as a variety of water handling pumps and gear reducers, etc. The technician should be able to: 1) Disassemble and reassemble industrial electric motors 2) Identify mechanical problems as well as inspect and test the windings of an electric motor using high voltage test equipment such as a hi-pot tester and Surge testing equipment 3) Make necessary repairs The technician will be required to run motors using single and three phase voltages of 115/230/460 volts standard with the possibility of voltage as high as 4,160 volts. With the wide variety of mechanical and electrical equipment brought in for repair the candidate should be familiar with larger hand tools, hydraulic tools and presses rated at 100 tons as well as small tools and precision handling. The technician will be required to safely handle a torch for heating. At times a technician will be required to drive to a customer's location and troubleshoot, repair, remove or install mechanical/electrical equipment on site. He may be responsible for managing and coordinating co-workers on a job site. The starting payrate for an Electric Motor Repair Technician is based on Union Contract pay scale as well as the candidate's experience with a guaranteed pay raise every year per the Union Contract. Along with IBEW Local 1392 Blue Cross Blue Shield Health & Welfare Program that has $350 Single/$1050 Family Deductible, Free Generic Prescriptions, $15,000 Life Insurance Policy, and a Union Annuity Fund with contributions made based on a per hour set contract rate. We offer Vacation and Optional Days as well as 9 paid holidays per the Union Contract. Northern Electric in addition to the union benefits also offers 32 sick hours per year above the contracted earned benefits.
