Electrician / Instrument Technician (E/I Service Mechanic) Westlake, LA 70669 From $47.39 an hour
- Full-time From $47.39 an hour
- Full-time Position Overview The Electrician / Instrument Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial electrical equipment, power distribution systems, instrumentation (electronic/pneumatic/hydraulic/analytical), motorized mechanical/pneumatic conveying equipment, and interfacing with automated DCS/PLC final control elements.
- Perform all duties safely and proactively correct unsafe acts.
- Support and maintain, through attitude and efforts, Qemetica's commitment to its customers, ensuring work is completed in quality manner.
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems including wiring, conduit, lighting, switchgear, transformers, and motors (up to 480V).
- Troubleshoot high‑voltage equipment and power infrastructure (from 2300V up to 13.8kV nominal).
- Calibrate, inspect, maintain, and repair process instruments and control systems.
- Conduct loop checks, logic verification, and commissioning support.
- Troubleshoot PLC systems including I/O, networks, and logic faults.
- Record/document all calibration and maintenance data on appropriate forms to later be uploaded in
CMMS/SAP
by others.- Provide expertise, advice, and support to other service mechanics unfamiliar with a job.
- Notify appropriate foreman/supervisor of problems with production or maintenance equipment or deviations from best practices.
- Report spills of any reportable substances to supervision.
- Redline/revise drawings to reflect as-found/as-left conditions in field.
- Label field devices/conduits/wire pairs, if missing.
- Maintain all assigned PPE/tools in satisfactory/acceptable condition. Qualifications
- Journeyman‑level Electrician and Instrument Technician.
- Valid TWIC card.
- Valid U.S. driver's license.
- Ability to work safely without close supervision.
- Ability to climb ladders, lift 50 lbs, work indoors/outdoors.
NFPA 70E, NETA II/III, ISA CCST, NCCER
certifications (preferred).- Electrician License (TX or LA) (preferred).
- Able to work without close supervision and perform jobs safely.
- Able to exchange verbal and written information with supervisors and other craftsmen. Key Skills
- Strong troubleshooting ability.
- Familiarity with Allen‑Bradley PLCs/VFDs and Foxboro DCS (preferred).
- Detail‑oriented calibration capability.
- Strong communication skills and commitment to safety, quality, and documentation.
