The company is seeking an experienced Laser Operator to support production operations in its Metals Department. About the
Role:
Set up and operate high-powered CO2-based metal-cutting laser equipment and CNC production machinery with minimal supervision. Adjust machine settings, interpret and modify CNC programs and G-code, and ensure completed work meets production and quality requirements. This is a full-time position located in Devens, MA.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and operate high-powered, CO2-based metal-cutting laser machines
  • Set up and run CNC production equipment in the Metals Department
  • Set appropriate machine settings and make adjustments as needed
  • Interpret and modify CNC programs and G-code
  • Adjust feed rates, power parameters, and machine settings based on material properties and job requirements
  • Follow established procedures for successful first-piece and second-piece inspections
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Perform microscope and light-source inspections
  • Use precision measuring devices, including verniers, pin gauges, and CMM equipment
  • Follow established quality-control procedures
  • Identify and communicate production or quality issues to supervisors, managers, Sales, Quality Assurance, or other appropriate personnel
  • Use manufacturing or job-tracking software, such as ShopTech-E2 or similar software
  • Understand production job flow and manage time effectively
  • Follow all required safety precautions when operating laser equipment
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • Experience setting up and operating CNC laser machines
  • Extensive CNC programming knowledge
  • Understanding of G-code
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Knowledge of feed rates, power parameters, and material properties
  • Experience using precision measuring devices, including verniers, pin gauges, and CMM equipment
  • Experience performing microscope or light-source inspections
  • Experience using manufacturing software or similar job-tracking software
  • Understanding of production job flow
  • Strong time-management skills
  • Professional demeanor and effective communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Physical Requirements:
  • Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, loud noises, airborne particles, and varying temperatures
  • Stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive movements throughout the workday
  • Safely operate and work near high-powered laser and CNC equipment
  • Use precision tools and measuring devices
  • Wear personal protective equipment as required
  • Perform other physical tasks associated with operating and maintaining production equipment
Compensation:
  • Hourly pay range: \$24.00 to \$33.00
  • Actual compensation based on skills, qualifications, and experience.
