This position combines deep technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, including mentoring junior technicians, overseeing critical equipment systems, and leading process improvement initiatives. Technician III operates with minimal supervision and takes ownership of key maintenance functions—all while maintaining the highest standards of safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair vacuum coating equipment, spray coating equipment, and process ovens and/or any​ advanced mechanical, electrical, and automated control systems, including PLCs.
Lead and coordinate complex maintenance projects, including new equipment installations and upgrades. Maintain and optimize vacuum coating equipment, ovens, HVAC, and process controls. Design and fabricate precision tooling and fixtures; perform advanced welding and machining tasks. Own and manage assigned Maintenance tasks, ensuring equipment reliability and operational uptime. Serve as a mentor to junior maintenance staff, providing training in troubleshooting, safety, and best practices. Collaborate with Engineering and Production teams on custom equipment builds and process improvements. Lead root cause analysis and support continuous improvement initiatives such as Six Sigma. Act as a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) ambassador, ensuring accuracy and adoption. Promote and enforce strict safety protocols, participate in safety audits, and ensure all work is performed in compliance with OSHA and facility-specific safety standards. Participate in and support hazard assessments, safety meetings, lockout/tagout procedures, and PPE enforcement. Skills and Competencies Advanced Technical Proficiency In-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems Proficient in PLC programming and troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.) Skilled in operation, maintenance, and repair of vacuum systems, process ovens, and automated equipment Fabrication & Machining Advanced welding (TIG/MIG/Stick) and metal fabrication skills Precision machining and use of manual equipment. Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings. Safety Leadership Strong understanding and enforcement of OSHA regulations, LOTO, confined space, and PPE requirements Actively participates in safety programs, audits, and risk assessments. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance Proficient in using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for planning, logging, and analyzing maintenance activities. Experienced in root cause analysis and continuous improvement practices. Leadership & Communication Mentors' junior technicians and supports onboarding/training programs. Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, vendors, and leadership. Takes ownership of production areas and drives initiative-taking maintenance culture. Analytical Thinking & Troubleshooting Strong critical thinking skills for diagnosing complex system failures. Able to work independently on high-impact assignments with minimal supervision. Drive equipment reliability and operational efficiency. Time and Task Management Maintains high standards of time accountability (90%+ target) Balances daily work orders with long-term project execution. Prioritize tasks effectively in fast-paced environments. Requirements
  • Minimum 7+ years of industrial maintenance or mechanical experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced technical skills in mechanical, electrical, PLC, and automation systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership in safe work practices, including lockout/tagout, confined space, and electrical safety.
  • Proficient in PLC programming and/or troubleshooting.
  • Skilled in welding, machining, and fabrication processes.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, electrical codes, and industrial safety procedures.
  • Experienced in using CMMS systems for preventive and corrective maintenance tracking.
  • Excellent communication skills and documentation practices.
  • Knowledge of
ITAR, ISO 9001, AS
9100, and
ISO 13485
standards. Preferred Qualifications Associate's degree or higher in Engineering, Mechatronics, or Industrial Maintenance. Six Sigma certification or similar process improvement training. Licensed Electrician or HVAC Technician. Recognized safety certifications (e.g., OSHA 30, NFPA 70E, First Aid/CPR). Proven history of project leadership and ownership of production areas.
