Job Description

Description The Lab Technician supports daily operations within a deployment readiness laboratory environment, ensuring the space, equipment, and materials are organized, safe, and operationally prepared. This position performs hands-on tasks including material handling, equipment staging, light mechanical work, preventative maintenance, and lab coordination. The role collaborates closely with technical, facilities, and operational teams to support new equipment intake, utility scoping, setup activities, and infrastructure enhancements. Key responsibilities include supporting incoming deliveries, operating pallet jacks, assisting in mechanical troubleshooting, maintaining storage areas, performing basic metal and wood fabrications, and coordinating utilities based on provided layouts. The technician maintains lab cadence through routine cleaning, space optimization, inventory tracking, and equipment check‑out processes. A strong safety orientation is essential, including regular walkthroughs, PPE readiness, and serving as a point of contact for safety concerns. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands‑on technical work, structured operational routines, and collaborative problem solving. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Hands-on experience with hand tools, mechanical tasks, or fabrication. Ability to lift up to 80 lbs, work in varied environmental conditions, and perform repetitive physical motions. Familiarity with basic blueprints, floor layouts, or utility schematics (preferred). Experience with HVAC, pneumatic systems, or automated equipment (preferred). Strong organizational skills for inventory management. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Vocational training in mechanical or electrical fields or 4+ years relevant field/apprenticeship experience (preferred). Experience Level Intermediate Level Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Northborough, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $34.37/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
