We are seeking an experienced Senior Building Automation Service Technician to join our growing service team in the Central Massachusetts / MetroWest Boston area. This is a hands-on field position for someone who enjoys troubleshooting complex HVAC control systems, solving customer problems, and working independently across a variety of commercial facilities. Our team specializes in building automation, energy management, and HVAC control solutions for commercial buildings, healthcare facilities, schools and universities, laboratories, municipal facilities, and other complex environments. This position offers the opportunity to work with both modern open-protocol BAS technology and existing control systems while becoming a trusted technical resource for long-term customers. What You'll Do Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain Building Automation Systems (BAS/DDC) and associated HVAC controls. Perform service calls, preventative maintenance, system upgrades, and emergency troubleshooting. Diagnose issues involving controllers, sensors, actuators, communication networks, and controlled HVAC equipment. Work with BACnet, Modbus, LON, IP-based networks, and other building automation protocols. Perform controller programming, system adjustments, point-to-point checkout, and functional testing as needed. Troubleshoot sequences of operation and identify both controls-related and mechanical HVAC issues. Support system integrations, retrofits, upgrades, and modernization projects. Review system alarms, trends, graphics, and operating data to identify performance issues. Communicate directly with customers, facility teams, and internal project/service personnel to resolve technical issues. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced technicians when needed. Maintain accurate service documentation and communicate recommendations for repairs, upgrades, and system improvements. What We're Looking For Strong hands-on experience with building automation, DDC controls, HVAC controls, or energy management systems. Advanced troubleshooting skills across BAS hardware, software, networks, and HVAC equipment. Experience with Distech Controls, ASI Controls, Niagara/Niagara 4, JCI, American Auto-Matrix, or similar BAS platforms is highly desirable. Working knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, LON, and IP networking. Solid understanding of commercial HVAC systems including AHUs, RTUs, VAVs, boilers, chillers, pumps, and associated control sequences. Ability to read control drawings, wiring diagrams, sequences of operation, and mechanical plans. Comfortable working independently in the field and interacting directly with customers. Niagara certification or manufacturer-specific BAS certifications are a plus. Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally to customer sites throughout the region. Why Join Us? This is an opportunity to join a well-established building automation organization with decades of experience delivering and supporting sophisticated control systems. You'll work with a team that values technical expertise, long-term customer relationships, and giving experienced technicians the autonomy to solve problems the right way.
