This role sits at the intersection of combustion physics and control systems—ideal for engineers who enjoy both hands-on calibration work and deep technical problem-solving. You will play a key role in shaping engine performance by calibrating control systems that directly impact emissions, fuel economy, drivability, power output, and onboard diagnostics. This is a high-visibility role supporting multiple vehicle programs, including advanced and hybrid powertrains. What You'll Do Calibrate engine control systems to meet stringent performance targets, including: Emissions compliance Fuel economy Drivability and power performance On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) requirements Develop and execute calibration strategies across multiple simultaneous vehicle programs Plan and manage calibration activities, including test schedules, milestones, and resource coordination Lead test preparation, data collection, analysis, and technical reporting Validate software logic and calibration values through rigorous testing Collaborate closely with technicians, test teams, and global engineering groups Support vehicle testing in extreme environments (hot, cold, high altitude) Translate real-world engine behavior into actionable calibration improvements What Makes This Role Unique Work at the intersection of combustion and controls —not purely mechanical or purely software Exposure to global development programs and cross-cultural collaboration Opportunity to contribute to hybrid and advanced powertrain technologies Hands-on involvement with real-world testing and data-driven engineering decisions Strong emphasis on ownership, technical depth, and problem-solving What You BringCore Requirements Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field 1-5 years of recent, hands-on engine calibration experience Strong understanding of internal combustion engine fundamentals , including: Air-fuel ratio control Spark timing Fueling strategies Air intake systems Ability to connect physical engine behavior with control system logic Experience analyzing technical issues and delivering effective solutions Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical work and decisions Valid driver's license with a strong driving record Preferred Qualifications Experience with emissions and/or OBD calibration Familiarity with global regulatory standards (U.S. and international markets) Experience with hybrid powertrain systems Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and/or C/C++ Experience with model-based development or calibration processes Programming experience (Python, VBA, or similar) Experience working in cross-functional and multicultural engineering environments Familiarity with project management tools and structured development processes What Success Looks Like You bring a balanced understanding of combustion physics and control systems You can confidently explain your calibration work, decisions, and results You take ownership of your work—from testing through analysis to final calibration You thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple programs and global collaboration You stay current with evolving emissions regulations and calibration methodologies •1475227•Company Overview Adapt Technology is a US-based engineering and staffing firm specializing in delivering innovative solutions across diverse industries, including automotive, aerospace, medical, and defense.
