Drafting Technician III - DPW

JOB Under general supervision, performs the more difficult and complex drafting work involved in the preparation of engineering drawings, maps, graphs and other pictorial representations.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Prepares or modifies elementary design and layouts of limited scope, based on engineering principles and practices gained from experience and close association with an engineering activity.

Assists with the training and oversight of less experienced drafting technicians engaged in the preparation of preliminary or detailed engineering drawings, maps, charts, graphs or other drawings used for illustrative presentation of data.

Drafts preliminary or detailed designs or drawings utilizing computer assisted drafting and design (CADD) equipment, or freehand.

Uses digitizer board to prepare or modify digital maps of infrastructure, property and engineering designs.

Uses digital plotting equipment to produce maps, charts and drawings.

Assists with tasks related to CADD network administration.

Searches reference materials and office records for information pertinent to assignments.

Computes statistical measures.

Reproduces blueprints and drawings.

Issues assignments and reviews work in progress and upon completion to ensure work standards are followed. Advises on views, suitability and neatness of drawings.

Monitors, evaluates, and reports on progress of employees.

Provides on the job training in the use of CADD hardware and software.
