What We're Looking For We are seeking a full-time Fiber Splicing Technician with a passion for service and telecom construction. Major Expectations & Accountabilities Commits to working safely every day and focuses on continued development and education related to safe work practices. Collaborates with the EPS Telecom Services Division and the Fiber Project Management Team to determine the best approach, value, and needs for fiber installation, repair, and providing telecom solutions. Provides effective troubleshooting skills and solutions with the ability to improvise and adapt to a variety of fiber applications and emergency fiber service calls. Responsible for the ordering and procurement of materials and equipment as needed for fiber telecom projects and service calls. Responsible for following up with customers before, during, and after the project with clear communication regarding project status ensuring customer satisfaction. Completes all required fiber service call documents and paperwork including work orders, material used, and providing information for accurate billing and estimates to customers. Works closely with EPS Fiber Splicing Field Supervisor to help determine labor needs, and work assignments with the fiber team for positive responses to service calls, fiber project installation and outages up to project completion. Develops and maintains strong customer relationships as a trusted advisor setting fiber project objectives and ensures final project meets or exceeds the customer's expectations. Continuously and proactively seek opportunities with telecom customers advising them of the services EPS can provide and in turn shares information with the EPS Fiber Project Managers and Telecom Services Divisional Manager. What You'll Need to Be Successful Eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship Must be 18 years or older A valid driver's license with a good driving record. Basic understanding of fiber and experience in fiber installation, troubleshooting, demo, and understanding of fiber applications. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Will need to be able to see and identify colors. Outstanding customer service skills and possesses a keen sense for detail. Ability to have good foresight to help anticipate changes in conditions and operations to the greatest extent possible and the ability to react and provide effective solutions as needed. Qualifications Set You Apart Proficiency in reading fiber schematics, Google Earth, and technical documents related to fiber locations and systems. Strong knowledge of NEC regulations and safety standards for telecom work. Fiber Installation and Splicing Training or certifications OSHA 10 and first aid certifications. A Medical Health Card. Proficiency with business software, including Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and Outlook. Operate motor vehicles, driving to and from work sites, corporate offices, and vendor locations. Sufficient vision to read instructions, blueprints, documents, etc., as well as to drive in daylight and at night and to avoid hazards on the job site. Must be able to distinguish colors in order to identify wiring color codes. Apply extensive physical mobility (manual dexterity, reaching, bending, climbing, crawling, kneeling, arm and leg extension) to supervise and perform routine activities including the ability to climb stairs and ladders, run conduit, etc. Possess extensive arm and hand mobility and strength to lift, hold, reach, carry, push and pull commonly used materials. Able to use power and hand tools on construction site. Able to move tools and materials into and out of vehicles. Regularly lift and move 20
Occasionally lift up to 50 to 100 pounds. Walk over uneven terrain, over debris and other obstacles. Regularly withstand Minnesota hot and cold weather conditions to perform outdoor responsibilities.
