Full Job Description The Position:
The Commissioning Technician provides safe, correct, and efficient commissioning of machinery and format tools at the Somic facility in Inver Grove Heights, MN, ensuring overall customer satisfaction. Ensures co-operation and information flow between departments such as Sales and Engineering.
Your Job Duties:
Commissioning of machines at Somic Packaging Inc. (in-house) Partial re-assembly of machines after arrival at Somic Packaging Adjusting the machine according to customer specifications Testing all components of the machine and conducting test production runs Setting and fine tuning of machine parameters regarding customer arrangements and specifications Use of various measuring equipment Conduct troubleshooting and diagnostics in corporation with other departments (e.g. mechanical and controls engineering) Executing reworks utilizing the in-house machine shop per 2D drawings and 3D models Detailed understanding of mechanical motions, timing and positioning Following internal quality guidelines and documentations. Perform factory acceptance tests (FAT's) in conjunction with Somic's PM as well as the end-user Partial dis-assembly of the completed machine and preparation for shipment together with shipping and receiving Perform PLC and HMI programming as well as logic adjustments together with controls engineering Operating equipment in Somic's internal machine shop (lathe, mills, hand tools, etc.) for prototyping and rework of existing parts Serve as main contact for Project Management during commissioning phase via daily discussions as well as weekly status update meetings and other means if needed Complete documentation of the machines during the commissioning process through collecting data for the documentation department, checking off project related checklists and making sure all the tasks are fulfilled, providing documentation of completed mechanical or electrical adjustments Supporting Field Service Technician via phone and Teams on machine topics such as general questions on in-house commissioned machines, and technical details such as parameters Complete equipment performance analysis and recommendations for improvements Field travel limited up to 20% maximum Ensures customer satisfaction of all services provided Be willing to assist with employees at all levels Ability to maintain 6S standards in all areas of the job Safe working environment in all areas of the job Professional representative of Somic with current and potential customers
Requirements Your Qualifications :
Completed Technical Degree from 2- or 4-year program in Mechatronics, Industrial Automation Technology, Robotics, Electronics or comparable experience Experience in the installation, commissioning and troubleshooting of machines and systems Knowledge of electrical engineering, control technology, pneumatics, and mechanics Functional knowledge of PLCs with ability to troubleshoot and resolve minor issues. Rockwell required, Schneider beneficial Safe, structured, and reliable work approach, entrepreneurial mindset Ability to work independently, with a confident manner Professional appearance and strong communication skills Able to work under pressure and be flexible Must be fluent in English, German beneficial Must have a valid class D driver's license and US Passport required Benefits Why join Somic Packaging, Inc?
