Immediate Local candidates only Position Summary We are seeking a proactive, detail oriented Summer Associate to support our Automation Engineering team by overhauling, organizing, and standardizing our engineering labs and hardware storage areas. This role is hands on and physical, focused on automation hardware, tools, and components rather than IT systems or software. This is a 10-12 week, on site position, ideal for a student interested in engineering operations, manufacturing support, logistics, or automation engineering environments. Key Responsibilities- Workspace Organization & Decluttering Clean and reorganize engineering lab benches, tool areas, cabinets, and shared workspaces to improve safety, accessibility, and efficiency.
- Inventory Audit & Management Sort, label, and inventory automation hardware including electronic components, robotic parts, sensors, power supplies, cables, fasteners, and tools. Maintain an organized inventory spreadsheet or database.
- Hardware Disposal & Salvage Identify obsolete, damaged, or unused equipment and assist with proper disposal, recycling, or salvage according to company guidelines.
- Cable & Bench Management Organize and bundle power, signal, and control cables at workstations and lab setups to improve cleanliness, safety, and usability.
- Lab Safety & Standards Reorganize tools, parts, and materials to align with lab safety standards, including proper storage of sharp tools, heavy equipment, and any applicable hazardous materials.
- Documentation Create simple documentation, labels, and location maps showing where tools, components, and equipment are stored so team members can find items quickly. Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing, Logistics, or a related field
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable working in a hands on lab or workshop environment
- Self motivated and able to work independently on open ended organization projects
- Physically able to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs
- Basic familiarity with electronic components, hand tools, or automation hardware is a plus, but not required Learning Opportunities
