In this energetic role, you will be responsible for installing, splicing, testing, and troubleshooting fiber optic systems to ensure seamless data transmission and connectivity. Responsibilities Install fiber optic cables and systems in outdoor environments following industry standards and schematics Perform fiber splicing using specialized tools to ensure optimal signal integrity and performance Operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks, trenchers, and cable pullers safely and efficiently during installation projects Conduct diagnostics and troubleshooting using telecommunications testing equipment to identify and resolve network issues Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering troubleshooting guides to support network setup and repairs Maintain safety compliance by adhering to the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) and other safety protocols during all outdoor operations Support telecommunications outside plant operations by managing cable routing, trenching, backfilling, and cable termination tasks Requirements Proven experience in field service roles involving telecommunications or outdoor construction projects Hands-on experience with heavy equipment operation, including bucket trucks and power tools Strong knowledge of fiber optic systems installation, splicing, testing, and troubleshooting techniques Familiarity with telecommunications testing equipment such as voltmeters, OTDRs (Optical Time Domain Reflectometers), and LAN/WAN diagnostic tools Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering documents related to fiber optic networks Experience working outdoors in various weather conditions with outdoor work experience preferred Electrical experience or background in low voltage wiring, cabling, or electrical systems is highly desirable Excellent climbing skills for pole work or tower access; familiarity with safety standards like the NESC is essential Technical proficiency in computer networking concepts including Ethernet, LANs (Local Area Networks), WANs (Wide Area Networks), and telephony systems Construction experience with telecommunications infrastructure or similar projects is a plus Join us to build the future of connectivity!
