MECHANIC, WG-2610-13, you will install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibre, and rebuild multi-system avionics complexes consisting of multiple completely integred electronic avionics systems where the complex accomplishes a number of major functions. The worker in this career field must demonstre the ability to perform on
  • or off-equipment maintenance on one or more complete electronic integred systems associed with the assigned aircraft and/or maintenance on automic flight control systems, instrument systems, inertial and radar navigion systems.
This position works within an Air Nional Guard Aviion Wing, Maintenance Group, Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Avionics Element, Avionics Shop, Communicions/Navigion/ECM, or Guidance and Control shop. It is an Air Nional dual stus technician position th requires military membership, compible military skill assignment and classificion. Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on one or more multi-complex electronic integred systems. Completes operional checks, inspections, tests, trouble shooting, removal and replacement of Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) which are linked with integred systems and LRUs which are independent or associed with nonintegred systems. Isoles unusual malfunctions using technical orders, schemics, wiring diagrams, tools, and test equipment including automic test equipment and Flight Line Test Systems (FLTS). Solves complex problems by analyzing installion, circuitry, and opering characteristics of the systems. Adjusts and aligns system sensors, transmitters, amplifiers, power supplies, display devices, controls, transponders, actuors, servos, computers and other reled components. Installs serviceable components into aircraft and performs total systems alignment and harmonizion in accordance with existing technical orders and directives. Accomplishes technical order compliances, modificion of components/systems and completes thorough system checks for proper operion. Maintains, modifies, calibres and inspects a wide variety of user test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE). Installs, modifies, overhauls, maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, rebuilds, aligns, and calibres complete electronic avionics multi-systems control. Demonstres a thorough working knowledge of complex aircraft avionics and or ECM systems such as the electronics package in a highly automed aircraft where the integred flight and Integred Countermeasures System, electronic multiplex communicions bus, Inertial Navigion System, multi-function displays, head-up display, da transfer equipment, Global Positioning System, Situion Awareness Da-Link (SADL), Da Modem, Flight Control System, pitot-stic system and reled instrumention, flight director instrumention, Central Air Da Computer, engine, hydraulic and fuel quantity indicing systems, voice message warning, VHF, UHF, SATCOM Da, intercom, secure voice communicions, Identificion Friend or Foe (IFF), and Tactical Air Navigion System (TACAN). Evalues operional characteristics of the integred systems by observing and analyzing waveforms, voltage, current, power indicions, computer registers and printouts. Analyzes the malfunctions encountered through fault codes, determines repair sequence process and performs the repairs. Review and analyzes maintenance da; determines if criteria are sufficient to provide adeque test, troubleshooting and repair procedures; devises and recommends tests, procedural changes, or da corrections. Aligns, adjusts, and performs final calibrions on integred systems to determine successful repairs. Analyzes equipment failure and malfunctions and suggests changes to improve operion. Monitors the operion of complex, interreled systems, analyzes opering trends, proposes preventive maintenance down time to assure continued opering capability, and recommends components for overhaul or engineering evaluion for disposal. Applies technical da and equipment specificions to determine the impact th equipment modificions or substitutions will have upon integred multi-system operions and various maintenance alignment procedures. Uses algebraic and trigonometric functions to adapt standard formulas to the specific requirements of the integred system. Installs, operes, and repairs prototype or experimental electronic systems such as inertial navigion, automic flight control as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned. GENERAL EXPERIENCE

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
: The applicant must have least 12 months of specialized experiences working as an Electronic Integred Systems Mechanic, WG-2610-12, and must possess the craftsman level of knowledge and skills to inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair and modify software controlled automed and manually controlled test stions, electronic circuit maintenance pods, peripherals, support equipment and associed subsystems. Experiences involved working stions to repair and maintain all avionics line-replaceable units and pods. Skilled in analyzing performance results, running tests, inspecting, troubleshooting, identifying and isoling malfunctions. Experienced in how to disassemble, modify or repair and reassemble test stions or electronic circuit maintenance pods and their associed peripherals. Skills include the ability to consider the complex inter-reled variables arising from a mix of computer hardware and software, stimulus and measurement systems, and special purpose test subsystems. Experienced in analyzing malfunctions using schemics, logic and wiring diagrams, programming tables, computer program flow charts, software user guides, computer program listings and factory drawings. Skilled in the diagnoses of circuit opering characteristics using computer query, system peculiar test equipment, and computer diagnostics. Experiences involved isoling problems to the failing part using self-test diagnostics, oscilloscopes, frequency meters, signal generors, digital, and differential voltmeters, computer registers and printouts and other special and standard tools and test equipment. Skilled in removing and replacing components, assemblies, subassemblies, or parts using special and common hand tools, soldering devices and special electronic instruments. Experiences involved modifying and upding avionics pods, support equipment, and support software according to applicable technical publicions. Skilled in analyzing program da to determine if the criteria is sufficient to provide adeque testing and troubleshooting. Experienced in the examinion of recurring malfunctions and software deficiencies to determine testing voids and initied corrective action by submission of quality deficiency reports, software deficiency reports or proposed modificions. Skilled in devising repair procedures based on findings and recommending program changes, procedural changes, or da corrections to correct software deficiencies. Experiences included connecting associed testing equipment to interface the test stion system to the aircraft system and pod to facilite maintenance/repair of the pod or line replaceable units from the avionics systems such as, radar, fire control, instrument, flight control, inertial navigion, malfunction analysis and recording equipment systems. Skilled in determining if failures were caused by the unit under test, the pod, the test stion, or the test program. Skilled in identifying malfunctions in the unit under test, pod or the test stion and isoling it to the specific component(s). Experienced in repairing and replacing solid ste devices, micro miniure modules, gyros, sensors, transducers, and any other required parts, and reassembling and performing operional tests. Experiences included working with engineers and technicians in the development and/or modificion of software, interfaces, extender equipment or additional items of test equipment and in validion of technical da concerning the repair, maintenance, and test of the test stion and units under test. Skilled in initiing technical da changes. Skilled in providing hands-on training instructions to lower-grade personnel concerned with repair of computer controlled automic test equipment, manually controlled test equipment, line replaceable units and aircraft integred systems. Experiences included the preparion and participion in various types of readiness evaluions such as, Operional Readiness Inspections, Inspector General Inspections, and Unit Effectiveness Inspections and mobility and command support exercises. May have general knowledge in structural fire-fighting, aircraft fire, aircraft crash and rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, heavy equipment operor, maintenance of facilities and equipment. Skilled in the compliance requirements concerning safety, fire, security, and housekeeping regulions. Experienced in the procedures involved with the proper storage, protection, and maintenance of all work-reled merial and equipment. To initially qualify and prior to appointment: Applicant's military medical record must indice a completed and current medical physical, medical profile, a cleared drug test; and, normal color vision as defined in AFI 48-123, Medical Examinions and Standards. Must have the capability to lift, carry, push, or otherwise handle items weighing up to 70 pounds. Must have the physical capability to stand, climb, walk, bend, crouch, reach, and stoop over extended periods of time. Must possess a valid ste driver's license to opere government motor vehicles, for the ste in which he or she lives or is principally employed, in accordance with Air Force and Air Nional Guard Vehicle Operions Directives. As a condition of continued dual stus technician employment: Employee must complete the hazm certificion within six months of employment and complete hazm recertificion every two years. Employee must maintain the position's mandory AFSC skill level and continue on-the-job proficiency requirements.
