Job Description
Job Roles and Responsibilities PLC and Controls Troubleshoot and repair PLC controlled electrical machinery and control systems. Diagnose and resolve PLC, electrical, instrumentation, and process control issues. Interpret PLC logic and make necessary modifications. Support new control system installations and upgrades. Maintain backups of PLC programs and computer control systems. Improve equipment efficiency and reliability. Electrical and Equipment Troubleshooting Troubleshoot electrical machinery and control systems. Support sawmill, planer, boiler, and kiln operations. Work with motor controls, VFDs, AC drives, instrumentation, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems. Build, calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical instruments and testing equipment. Use precision measurement tools to calibrate and adjust equipment. Production and Maintenance Support Coordinate with production and maintenance leadership to minimize equipment downtime. Provide technical support before, during, and after equipment installation projects. Complete work orders and maintenance documentation. Conduct quality control and assurance inspections. Document findings and provide recommendations. Maintain technical knowledge through training and hands on learning. Safety Follow OSHA, health, safety, and environmental requirements. Safely use tools and industrial equipment. Follow required PPE and workplace safety procedures. Qualifications and Certifications Required High school diploma or equivalent. 2 or more years of industrial PLC experience. Manufacturing experience. Strong Allen Bradley ControlLogix and CompactLogix experience. Knowledge of industrial electrical systems, motor controls, VFDs, and AC drives. Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills. Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work with production, maintenance, and engineering teams. Willingness to work any shift, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. Ability to work in industrial environments for extended periods. Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in hot, dusty, and noisy environments while wearing required PPE. Preferred Associate degree. Technical certification. Wood products manufacturing experience.
