Job Description

Electromechanical Assembler / Controls Technician (Growth into Automation Engineer) Position Summary We are seeking a motivated, hands-on Electromechanical Assembler / Controls Technician to join our team building automated semi-truck wash systems. The ideal candidate is self-driven, quick to learn, and capable of solving problems independently and as a team. We can teach you all the technical skills needed for this role, but being motivated is by far the most important trait we are looking for. This position will begin with equipment assembly, electrical control panel building, and field installation work, with a clear development path into automation programming, commissioning, and technical support. Experience is welcome but not needed. Key Responsibilities Assembly & Fabrication Assemble mechanical and electromechanical equipment for automated wash systems Build and wire electrical control panels from schematics and CAD drawings Mount and wire PLCs, VFDs, relays, breakers, sensors, and other control components Perform point-to-point wiring and labeling to company standards Conduct quality checks and basic functional testing before shipment Field Installation & Commissioning Travel to customer sites for equipment installation Assist with mechanical installation, electrical hookups, and startup Perform field wiring, sensor calibration, and system verification Troubleshoot installation issues and ensure proper system operation Work directly with customers during commissioning Automation Development (Growth Path) Learn and assist with PLC programming and modifications Learn and assist with HMI configuration and screen development Participate in system startup and debugging Support upgrades and improvements to control systems Contribute to continuous improvement of automation standards Technical Support Assist in remote troubleshooting of installed systems Support service calls and customer inquiries Help diagnose electrical and control system issues Document solutions and update technical documentation Qualifications High School Diploma Willingness to travel for field installations (20% of the time) Preferred (Not Required but a Plus): Experience with electrical panel assembly or industrial wiring Ability to read and interpret electrical and CAD schematics Mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand/power tools Strong troubleshooting mindset Good communication skills and professionalism with customers Experience with PLCs (Allen-Bradley) Familiarity with HMIs and industrial networking Knowledge of VFDs, sensors, and industrial controls Technical degree or relevant certification Experience with Microsoft Office What We're Looking For Someone dependable and detail-oriented A self-starter who wants to grow into automation engineering Comfortable working both in the shop and in the field Team-oriented with a strong work ethic This position is designed as a pathway into automation engineering. The right candidate will receive hands-on training in PLC programming, HMI development, system commissioning, and advanced troubleshooting, with opportunities to take ownership of full automation projects over time.
Pay:
$25.00 - $35.00 per hour
