The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and experience in field service, particularly in fiber optics. This role involves working with various networking equipment and performing installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fiber optic systems. The Fiber Technician will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our telecommunications services. Responsibilities Perform fiber splicing and termination for various types of fiber optic cables. Install, maintain, and troubleshoot fiber routers and other networking equipment. Utilize meters and other testing equipment to ensure proper functionality of installations. Conduct field service operations, including site assessments and customer interactions. Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used during service calls. Qualifications Proven experience in field service or as a service technician, specifically related to fiber optics. Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot hardware issues effectively. Familiarity with fiber routers and computer networking principles. Experience in fiber fusion splicing techniques and the use of related tools and equipment. Knowledge of Ethernet cabling standards and telephone system installations is preferred. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
