Job Description

Position Summary We are seeking a Japanese/English Bilingual Automation & Controls Engineer to support highly automated manufacturing equipment. This role is responsible for equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, automation support, and collaborating with Japanese expatriate engineers to improve equipment reliability and production efficiency. Essential Responsibilities Troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize highly automated production equipment. Perform preventive and predictive maintenance (PM/PdM) to maximize equipment uptime. Diagnose and support PLCs, industrial robotics, vision inspection systems, and mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment. Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability and reduce downtime. Collaborate with Japanese expatriate engineers to understand equipment design and processes. Translate technical information and provide training to local team members as needed. Other duties may be assigned by managers. Qualifications 3+ years of experience in production engineering, automation, or manufacturing equipment maintenance. Hands-on experience with PLCs, industrial robotics, vision inspection systems, and mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems. Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance methodologies. Business-level proficiency in both English and Japanese. Ability to interpret technical manuals and communicate technical information effectively. Willingness and physical ability to work a 2-2-3 rotating schedule (12-hour day/night shifts).
