Job Description

What we are looking for at QPSI? The PLC Technician reports to the Plant Manager or designee and is responsible for building, implementing, and troubleshooting equipment at the site as assigned. Serve as subject matter expert in PLC, hydraulics, electrical, pneumatics, and mechanical issues. The PLC Tech assists & supports Maintenance Department in assembly and start-up of new projects as well as troubleshooting of existing equipment. The principle responsibility of every employee at QPSI is to aid in the production of superior quality products. What our PLC Technician will be accountable for at QPSI? Drive and contribute to the assembly, start-up, and maintenance of new projects in both software and mechanical engineering of the production lines. Build and implement new vision inspection machines and upgrade existing vision equipment and adapt fixtures accordingly. In conjunction with the Maintenance Department, troubleshoot existing equipment and start-up of new equipment. Partner with all departments in ergonomic and safety issue and compliance. Help improve current processes and procedures as instructed to incorporate continuous improvement. Assist in the installation of equipment into production including being part of the run-off. Perform general maintenance machining functions utilizing machine stop equipment. Follow and build mechanical components from approved prints, make recommendations and provide feedback as needed. What Qualified PLC Technician Candidates must have to be successful at QPSI? Technical degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. 2-5 years experience in PLC, preferably in a packaging environment. Proven understanding of PLC systems and the ability to program and troubleshoot. Understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics. Proven ability to troubleshoot industrial electricity including wiring of panels. Proven ability to troubleshoot basic hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Able to follow and build mechanical components from approved prints. Proven ability to work well with fellow employees and outside contacts, work in a fast paced, ever changing environment, with an entrepreneurial level of autonomy. Must be able to supply general purpose hand tools. Ability to work with minimal or no supervision and able to make the necessary judgment to ask for assistance when needed. What We Offer?
