Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Lab Instrument Technician for the Department of Materials Science and Engineering within the School of Engineering.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
Operates and assists with Computer Numerical Control (CNC) and other manual machinery to produce precision parts.
Communicates with team members to effectively understand the needs of the finished product and provide an effective design.
Conducts diagnosis and repair of laboratory equipment, as well as routine maintenance of small equipment and vacuum pumps.

Salary Details $39,000 - $45,000

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent.
Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to communicate and interact effectively with staff and students.

Significant on the job training will be required, as this is an entry-level position.
Willingness to learn additional skills to progress to the fabrication of more complex designs, parts, and tools to be used in the equipment in the Energy Storage Research Group laboratory.
Preferred Qualifications Experience on
HAAS CNC
Machine tools.
Experience in general machine equipment and safety practices (Lathe, Milling Machine).
Equipment Utilized Mill, Lathe, Basic Drafting, CAD and CAM software, HAAS CNC.
Physical Demands and Work Environment Ability to lift metal stock and move compressed air tanks.
