Job Description
Quality Calibration/Test Technician The Calibration & Metrology Technician is responsible for the calibration, maintenance, and management of measurement and test equipment used throughout manufacturing, laboratory, and engineering operations. This position ensures compliance with quality system requirements, maintains measurement traceability, supports production and engineering teams, and assists with continuous improvement initiatives related to inspection and metrology processes. This position plays a critical role in ensuring product quality, maintaining measurement traceability, supporting regulatory compliance, and enabling efficient manufacturing operations through accurate and reliable measurement systems.
Key Responsibilities Quality Assurance:
- Perform calibration and verification of mechanical, dimensional, pressure, temperature, electrical, and torque measurement equipment.
- Maintain calibration schedules and ensure timely completion of calibration activities.
- Review calibration data and determine compliance with established specifications and acceptance criteria.
- Develop and maintain calibration procedures, forms, and work instructions.
- Manage calibration records and equipment traceability in accordance with company quality requirements.
- Coordinate external calibration services and review supplier calibration certificates.
- Support environmental monitoring programs and laboratory equipment verification.
- Maintain measurement equipment inventories and asset tracking systems.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects related to quality, metrology, and inspection processes.
Quality Control:
- Investigate out-of-tolerance conditions and support corrective action activities.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams regarding measurement and inspection processes.
Quality Systems & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with
ISO 9001
Quality Management System and support internal and external audits.- Assist with internal, customer, and third-party audits.
- Maintain proper document control and process traceability
- Track and report quality calibration KPIs Experience /
Qualifications:
- Required
- Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Quality, Metrology, Electronics, Mechanical Technology, or equivalent experience.
- Experience calibrating measurement and test equipment.
- Working knowledge of calibration methods, measurement uncertainty, and traceability principles.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Strong organizational and technical documentation skills. >
- Preferred
- Experience working within ISO 9001 and/or
ISO/IEC 17025
environments.- Experience with pressure, temperature, dimensional, torque, and electrical calibrations.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis and measurement system evaluation.
- Experience with computerized calibration management systems.
- Physical Requirements
- Ability to move and handle calibration equipment and tooling.
- Ability to work in laboratory, manufacturing, and office environments.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds occasionally.
Working Conditions:
- Majority of time spent on the manufacturing floor
- Frequent interaction with production and engineering teams
