Job Description

Position Summary We are seeking a skilled Electronics Soldering & Inspection Technician to support the assembly and quality assurance of printed circuit boards (PCBs). This role is responsible for performing precision hand soldering, rework, and detailed visual inspection to ensure all assemblies meet IPC standards and customer specifications. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, steady hand skills, and experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities
  • Perform hand soldering of through-hole and surface mount (SMT) components to IPC standards (IPC-A-610 / J-STD-001)
  • Conduct rework, repair, and modification of PCB assemblies
  • Inspect completed assemblies using microscopes and other inspection tools
  • Identify and document defects such as solder bridges, insufficient solder, lifted pads, and component misalignment
  • Interpret assembly drawings, schematics, BOMs, and work instructions
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, customer requirements, and internal procedures
  • Maintain ESD-safe work practices at all times
  • Accurately complete inspection reports and production documentation
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve defects and improve processes
  • Maintain clean and organized workstations Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in electronics assembly, soldering, or PCB inspection
  • Working knowledge of IPC-A-610 and/or
J-STD-001
standards
  • Experience with both SMT and through-hole soldering
  • Ability to use microscopes and inspection equipment
  • Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and tracking Preferred Qualifications
  • Current IPC certification (IPC-A-610 and/or
J-STD-001
)
  • Experience in high-reliability industries (aerospace, defense, medical, or automotive)
  • Familiarity with conformal coating, rework processes, or selective soldering
  • Experience working in ITAR/EAR-controlled environments Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Good vision (corrected or uncorrected) for close-up work
  • Steady hand-eye coordination for precision tasks
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally Work Environment
  • Electronics manufacturing environment
  • ESD-controlled workspace
  • Use of microscopes, soldering irons, and small hand tools
  • May involve working with small components and fine-pitch devices What Success Looks Like
