We are searching for an experienced individual that has an aptitude for mechanics and a learning attitude to join our Team. Assignments will require the employee work directly with the shop foreman and Lead Technicians, handle stressful situations and have the necessary commitment to timely completion of projects with deadlines. Additionally, this position will require customer service skills and the ability to effectively and respectfully communicate with customers, co-workers and managers both verbally and in writing. RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibility for a Shop Technician is assemble new tow units onto truck chassis that may include brands such as Kenworth, Peterbilt, Freightliner, Ford, Ram, etc. Troubleshooting, and repairing hydraulics, lighting & electrical failures are also a big part of the job. The Shop Technician position assists in running a profitable and efficient service department. Santiam Wrecker Sales builds tow trucks ranging from repo units up to $800,000+ heavy duty wreckers. Shop Technicians will build, work on, and repair all types of tow trucks in this job. He/she will accomplish objectives through studying installation manuals, acquiring proper tools for the job, and on-the-job experience. Those with their own tools will be given priority over other applicants.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Helps set and achieve goals with other service department team members. Work directly with the shop foreman and other technicians to layout and complete tow truck builds & repairs. Acquire tools to complete builds and repairs quicker and easier. Welding, Automotive Electrical, Hydraulics, Troubleshooting. (hydraulics and Welding can be learned on site) Operate a forklift, mobile crane, and truck chassis within the company property. Lift 50+ lbs at times. Other duties as assigned.
