Laboratory Equipment Specialist Precision Analytical (PA) is the creator of the DUTCH Test, an innovative hormone test that creates better tools for healthcare professionals to explore hormone issues with their patients. Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly capable and self-sufficient Lab Equipment Specialist responsible for the calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of laboratory equipment and associated systems. This role supports lab operations by ensuring equipment performance, assisting with technical issues, and contributing to process improvements. The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on technical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex systems and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance laboratory efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine calibration, verification, and preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment including pipettes, analytical balances, centrifuges, shakers, thermometers, and automated systems Maintain calibration schedules and ensure compliance with internal quality and regulatory standards Document all calibration activities, maintenance records, and service logs accurately Diagnose and resolve equipment issues ranging from basic mechanical problems to more complex system-level faults Escalate advanced issues to vendors or internal specialists as needed and coordinate service activities Provide day-to-day technical support to lab personnel to ensure proper and safe equipment use Support operation and troubleshooting of automated lab equipment (e.g., liquid handlers, robotic systems) Collaborate with scientific teams to identify and implement opportunities for workflow optimization and automation Manage spare parts, consumables, and backup equipment inventory Identify and recommend improvements to equipment performance, lab processes, and system efficiency Assist in developing and revising SOPs related to equipment operation, maintenance, and automation workflows Ensure adherence to all laboratory methods, SOPs, and company policies Coordinate multiple assignments with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness Communicate effectively with lab staff, vendors, and cross-functional teams Provide backup support to laboratory operations as needed Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends as needed Dependable, punctual, and able to work both independently and collaboratively
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in life sciences, engineering, computer science, or related field OR equivalent hands-on experience Experience working in a laboratory environment preferred Familiarity with laboratory equipment calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting Exposure to automated lab systems (e.g., liquid handlers such as Tecan, Dynamic Devices, Hamilton, or similar) preferred Basic understanding of data systems, scripting, or system integration is a plus Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams) preferred Strong interpersonal and listening skills; the ability to communicate (verbal/writing) effectively at all levels and with all customers, internally and externally Positive teamwork-oriented attitude; champion for our people, culture, company, and brand
Work Environment:
This position is located in an office/lab environment with frequent use of laboratory instruments and tools, computer and related hardware. A person must be able to stand and/or sit and effectively move around the building and lab workspaces; see, hear and talk; use hands to type, handle or feel tools or controls; use hands and arms to reach. This position requires lifting up to 25lbs, and use of PPE when working with urine, saliva, or other samples, or with chemicals and other substances, within our lab environment.
