Role:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Equipment Technician / Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on commercial cleaning equipment, primarily focusing on truckmount systems (gas/diesel engine-driven carpet cleaning units) and commercial portable vacuums/extractors. Candidates must be open to further specialized training. If you have a strong background in small engines, 12V electrical systems, hydraulics/plumbing, and general mechanical troubleshooting, we'd love to speak with you!
Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnostics & Repair:
    Troubleshoot and repair small gasoline/diesel engines, water pumps, vacuum blowers, high-pressure heating systems, and 12V DC electrical systems on truckmounted equipment.
  • Portable Equipment Maintenance:
    Inspect, service, and repair commercial portable vacuums, extractors, and related accessories (motors, switches, cords, and pump systems).
  • Preventative Maintenance:
    Perform routine servicing (oil changes, belt replacements, filter changes, descaling, and fluid checks) to maximize equipment lifespan.
  • Installations:
    Assist with mounting, plumbing, and wiring new truckmount units into work vans and trucks.
Testing & Quality Control:
Conduct post-repair testing to ensure equipment operates safely and meets manufacturer specifications before returning it to service or customers.
Documentation & Inventory:
Maintain clear records of work completed, parts used, and maintain an organized, safe shop environment. Qualifications & Skills
Required:
  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical repair (small engine repair, automotive technician, equipment maintenance, or related fields).
  • Strong working knowledge of small engines (e.g., Kohler, Briggs & Stratton, Honda, Kubota, Hyundai, Kawasaki) and 12V DC electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with basic plumbing, high-pressure water lines, pumps, and vacuum systems.
  • Proficiency with standard hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment (multimeters, pressure gauges).
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and technical service manuals.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred /
Plus:
  • Prior experience specifically working on commercial carpet cleaning truckmounts (e.g., HydraMaster, Prochem, Sapphire Scientific, Legend Brands) or industrial floor care equipment.
  • Basic welding or fabrication skills.
Physical Requirements Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50'75 lbs regularly. Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.
