Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Automation Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) Specialist based in Williston, ND to support automation execution for oil & gas facility projects. This role focuses on Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning support, controls verification, issue tracking, and startup readiness. The ideal candidate will have strong automation and troubleshooting skills and can verify system performance while coordinating with project teams, technicians, and vendors.
Note:
This is not a primary PLC programming role. Key Responsibilities Support FAT activities, vendor testing, and deployment readiness. Verify PLC, HMI/SCADA, instrumentation, communications, and control system functionality. Execute SAT and commissioning validation using control narratives, Cause & Effect matrices, I/O lists, and verification checklists. Identify, document, track, and help resolve automation and controls issues. Coordinate with commissioning technicians, vendors, operations, and project stakeholders. Maintain accurate testing records, punch lists, and documentation. Assist with startup support and continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications 5+ years of experience in automation, instrumentation & electrical (I&E), commissioning, controls, or a related field. Experience supporting FAT, SAT, startup, or controls checkout activities. Understanding of PLC-controlled equipment, instrumentation, and industrial control systems. Ability to read and interpret control narratives, P&IDs, electrical drawings, Cause & Effect matrices, and I/O lists. Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills. Allen-Bradley PLC systems Red Lion DA70 or similar edge devices FlowBoss, ROC, or FB3000 flow computers Modbus communications VFDs, MOVs, SDVs, control valves, and motor controls Oil & gas production and facility control systems Work Environment Combination of field, lab, office, vendor, and remote work environments. Rotational schedule of 14 days on / 14 days off, supporting project execution and field operations. Travel required based on project needs and assignment location. Flexibility to support startup, commissioning, and project schedules, including extended hours and weekends when necessary.
