Job Title:
Substation Engineering Technician Job Description Under close supervision, you will perform engineering technician work requiring basic technical knowledge. You will utilize electronic applications, processes, standards, and document control procedures to create or modify deliverables. Responsibilities Develop familiarity by reading, understanding, and maintaining a working knowledge of engineering standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, and policies. Ensure that deliverables are accurate and compliant by understanding and adhering to the company's quality program. Demonstrate personal accuracy and support continuous improvement and change management efforts. Learn the applications required to modify less complex deliverables based on various design inputs. Identify the needs of internal clients and gain a basic understanding of external clients' main interests and drivers. Proactively seek and share knowledge of the latest technologies and processes. Essential Skills Working knowledge of Computer Automated Drafting Design (CADD) or other design or modeling skills. Basic knowledge of engineering standards, systems, document control, and departmental guides. Basic industry knowledge and technology trends. Basic knowledge of the company quality program. 3-5 years of experience in substation drafting. Experience with drafting software such as AutoCAD SDS, AutoCAD Electrical, Microstation, or Inventor. Additional Skills & Qualifications Preferred non-technical skills: Learning on the Fly, Problem Solving, Perseverance, Patience, Time Management, Drive for Results, Self Development, Listening, Informing. Diploma or Certificate preferred. Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred. Strong work ethic and attention to detail. Understanding of client standards. Work Environment Flexible hours, opportunities for advancement, and competitive pay. The position may start as remote during the contract period and transition to a hybrid model upon conversion. Work locations are within 50 miles of Houston, TX; Dallas, TX; College Station, TX; Overland Park, KS; Raleigh, NC; Denver, CO; Bloomington, MN; Phoenix, AZ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $38.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
